Took this off the form yesterday and was waiting for the morning to post some glamour shots but it's cloudy. Here are some shots from the workbench after cleanup. Shop is a mess, my apologies!

I’m so impressed with all the entries shown so far, not one I wouldn’t be proud to own! But I got a notice from Purolator there’s a package for me in town, so maybe ……… I’ll find out on Monday!! This is just like Christmas!!  :goldtooth:

Well that bow is the best I've ever built, looks wise.  It's also 25# over target weight.  I'm not really sure what happened but I'm going through my notes and trying to find the problem.

Is it at all possible to remove that kind of weight?  Tips are at 5/8" right now so I can narrow it a little more but I'm almost 100% sure that's not going to cut it.  Any input is welcome.

Edit: Cleaned it up :banghead:

Ouch, 25# is a ton to get off.  Don't think you can narrow enough to do it, how thick is the glass on it?
Stay sharp, Kenny.

0.040" on the glass.

Found the problem, I messed up the weight chart on my spreadsheet and didn't catch it.  Squared that away and getting started on the next one.

My apologies for the panic post earlier.  A little back story for you guys: I was selected for a 3-week class in the beginning of April that is out of state.  The class takes up most of May so I was working to have my bow shipped by the 7th to avoid finishing in the grace period.

New plan, I'll have everything waiting for me when I get back and knock it out asap.  I'll mess with the original over the next few days to see how much weight I can get off of it.

10 is about the most I ever taken off without a full trap. Some say you can get 9 with an aggressive trapping.

5lbs isn't really that much. You could lose that much just rounding edges over really good. I always trapped the back ie back was narrower than belly. You don't have to take off much to lose 5lbs

I just took 10#s off one by taking a 16th off each side and rounding the edges. Rounding the edges took off right at 5#s

Twice as wide 2X strong
Twice as thick8X strong.
I've never tried to take off more than 15# and that was with.050 glass.
With a sanding block and even pressure, counting your passes on the back and belly the weight drops pretty quick.

I'd start with 80 grit then go to finer grits out to 320 on clear ,600 grit on colored checking tiller as you go.
Aggressive trapping on the belly will drop weight quickly but usually creates problems with tips wandering.
