hot melt in carbon

I bought some GT trad. shafts. The instructions say NO hot melt. Also I didn't realize how skinny they are. They are smaller than a pop straw.
I have the low temp hot melt, but with the super skinny shafts am wondering about the heat, if it possibly would harm them. They are 600's-9 gr inch.

I don't know about the skinny shafts,but I hot glue some of my carbons. I just have a bowl of cool water right there and immediately dunk them. I've never had a problem. I use super glue with good results if your more comfortable with that.

If you use the blue color glue, you can melt it with boiling water. The water won't hurt the carbon.

Big Jim's hot melt works great. Easy to apply and remove and holds great. He has a video on it.

I've used it on carbon, aluminum, and wood works very well on all three.

I use the GT Trads and used the low temp hot glue for my inserts. I hold the inserts with some pliers and heat them with a small torch. Then rub the glue stick on the hot insert and push it into the arrow. Wipe off excess glue and then cool by dipping in a cup of water. Works for me and been holding great.

I use Ferr-L-Tite hot melt and have never had a problem. The key is not getting the insert/nib point too hot. Then, as was mentioned, I keep a cup of water handy to dip the end of the arrow in.

Yes, it is possible to soften the carbon if your heat is to hot or you don’t cool down the shaft right away. I lost 3 shafts doing the first thing without realizing it.

I’ve used Quick Stick from Big Jim’s Bow Company on inserts/outserts on all kinds of arrows and never had any issues with it. The biggest advantage is that you can reuse expensive components when you damage an arrow.

I've been using the Bohning blue low temp glue. No problem installing, pulling, reinstalling on carbons.

One more for ferrule tire and cold water. I did overcook one and ruin a shaft a long time ago

I use axis and they are much skinner and I have used nothing but hot melt

Have experience no issues with Big Jim"s hot melt...have used it on at least 100 dozen arrows.
