Habu bow pictures.
« on: May 12, 2022, 11:11:35 AM »
Hey Guys, does anyone have pictures of any bows that Chris has built in the past few years? Preferably his newest Death Adder design?

I have a friend up to get one soon that may have to flip it and it really got me thinking.. I have a friend with a 15 year old one that I love but anxious to see what has changed.

Anything you have would be greatly appreciated.

i'm pretty sure Chris only makes the Vyperkahn now in recurve and longbow with Bocote or Cocobolo wood choices. :dunno:
i think he has dropped the Death Adder at least temporarily.  Give him a shout to be sure.

That's what I thought too, but a buddy got on his list almost 3 years ago and got the call from Chris on Monday, and he is apparently making him his newly designed Death Adder?! supposed to be and improved/faster design?!

i used to own a Death Adder and a Vyperkahn longbow.  He won't be disappointed with either.  Chris makes an awesome bow.

Shot a Habu recurve (?) many, many years ago and was truly impressed.  At that time I had a Damon Howatt Hunter 1964 that keeping me happy.

Ive seen pictures of the bows on his website and they are beautiful but Ive never heard of anybody shooting them. Serious question, why are they so expensive? They are beautiful bows but there are many other bowers that do just as well for half the price. Really curious about this. Thanks.

Chris's bows are expensive and he has or had about a 2 year wait list last time i ordered one.  He's been in business over 20 years so to answer your question, yes there are a bunch of people out there that shoot his bows.  Most people don't get rid of them once they have one so you seldom see them for resale.  A few years back i went thru a phase where i wanted to try every big name bowyer's fastest, best, whatever adjective you can think of.  Chris was one of those bowyers.  His bows are a work of art and are high peformance.  Are there others out there just as good for a fraction of the cost?  Absolutely!  Same can be said about broadheads (there is a thread going about them now),  knives, cars, clothes, camo, etc.  They all do the job, but different people have different tastes and may be willing to pay more for those tastes.

I've had 3 of Chris's bows, 2-tDS and one 1-piece. Liked them very much. I was on his list for a special one in Macassar Ebony. Unfortunately when my build time came up after two years I had cooled my jets. Still regret not going through with that one.
