Pink is for...girls?
« on: June 24, 2022, 01:49:19 PM »
For years, I've been ribbing (good-naturedly; in jest) several of my trad shooting forum friends for photos in which they are shooting arrows fletched in pink. "Girly arrows", I called them. One of them gifted me some plain-Jane arrows with no striping or other adornments, which I took with me stumping this year, and was shocked to find that in every case, I could bury one of these arrows nearly up to the nock while shooting at leaves, bits of rotten stumps, etc and still see the pink fletching from where I stood and released the arrow! One of our members here told me pink stands out better to the human eye than any other color in the woods, and I agree 100%. More so than fluorescent green or orange. So, all kidding aside, I now am getting set to make up a dozen stumpers fletched in...you guessed it..."Girly Pink"!  :biglaugh:

You are correct, it’s easier to find my wife’s errant arrows as well. I used one purple and two pink on hers. I also used a pink wrap. But, I just can’t bring myself to using pink fletch. To each his own but I will stick with flo yellow fletch and wraps.

Chartreuse/FloLime for over 3 decades. Not going pink.

All blood soaked feathers are red.  :goldtooth:

I like Flo Pink, it's easy for me to see when I miss.

I’ve been including either pink or lime feathers on almost all of my arrows for the past two years now! I agree that pink feathers and pink (Bohning classic “Rose”) nocks are the easiest color for me to see in the last twenty minutes of shooting light when they hit a target.

Also; I believe to Penn State research on whitetails determined that pink was the least visible to a whitetail.  Hardest for them to see.

Jayson, yeah, I couldn't care less about a 'missed arrow' as I need to be punished for that.  I'm more interested in flight and impact feedback. Also, non pass through feedback from arrow wraps.

I need to do a thread or a video on that.

Terry;
You're right, Costas need to stay in the FJ!!!  As far as arrow flight I usually just see a blur right before impact and then go pick it up off the ground on the other side.

The Yellow and Chartreuse is my standard issue, and I have this pic because this bow is always out. But I do have a dozen Hot Pink with a Pink barred cock feather that I use with quite a bit on a different bow.

I get where you are coming from on that point, Terry. But technically when you're stumping, every arrow is a search and rescue mission to retrieve it even if you nail what you're aiming for. :archer2:
hi-viz is the key; something that stands out from leaves, brush and undergrowth.

Some fellow laughed at my pink feathers, once.  Just knocked him down with my purse.  Problem solved.

I hear ya Kirk, I can't tell you how many years uts been since the last arrow I lost. But it careened off a log into parts unknown. Never had much issue at all loosing arrows and I stump a lot.

Before cataract surgery pink fletching was easier for me to see the arrow flight plus finding them in the woods is much easier.

Never had a masculinity complex over the color pink. I have a couple pink dress shirts I wear to church and the ladies like it. :bigsmyl:
