Wondering if anyone is hunting Maryland's, Marsh Ghost this season? I picked up my Blackwater Permit for the 2022-23 season and this will be my first adventure there, been planning for this for sometime now. One of my retirement, "Bucket List" hunts.

Hunt where your feet are wet and shoot a big broadhead.  Small, but harder to kill than a whitetail.  Thick hair and water makes for tough blood trails.

And they really like moving after dark.

I'll be making my first trip to hunt Sika deer in the middle of September. This is one of my bucket list critters so I'm getting extremely excited!!

Yup. going to try again this year.  Listen to Kbetts and also make sure you have a good light and gps capablity for when you are in the marsh tracking.

It feels like a lifetime ago.  I had just gotten the bow.  Wish I remembered who I sold it to as this is the one I posted about in the classifieds. First time without a bow quiver and the light physical weight gave me issues occasionally.
Shot this one from the ground at about 8 yards.  I hit a briar vine with the first arrow.  The thing had no idea what happened....curiosity killed the....sika.  Facing me, the Wensel Woodsman traveled the length of its body.  And it still made it 75 yrs.

Oh, Thermacell.  Carry two if it's warm.  Skeeters are as big as birds.

Good luck, sounds like you need to be prepared from what they have been saying. Experience is the school of hard knocks and usually never forgotten. Could be an awesome hunt for you and I hope so. Sounds like a well earned trophy if you get one.

My expectations for the hunt are to enjoy the marsh sounds, smells, and wildlife.
Hopefully, hear a Stag bugle and Hind call. To not become anemic from blood loss to skeeters, or be lost in the marsh for the whole trip.
Seeing a Sika would be incredible and harvesting one my first time would be unexpected. But I won't get a chance at one if I sitting at home.

Have a good hunt!  And if successful, you'll have some great venison.
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.
