I had the weight of my Primal Tech longbow limbs reduced, and I also had a brand new riser built for said limbs. I finally got the new bow this past Monday. By Tuesday morning, I had a really well tuned arrow worked up.
Here is the new bow:
I have been struggling with my normal hunting weight bows for some time now. I decided to try a lower draw weight to see if that would help me gain some of the control over my shooting that I had always been accustomed to. I had these limbs reduced to 40# at my DL. After unpacking and putting her together, it didn’t take me but a few shots to figure out this was a good move. I immediately started shooting more consistently, and much more accurately than I had been with my 45-50# bows.
Fast forward 2 days to today, and I was getting along so well with her, I decided to take her pig hunting. As luck would have it, the pigs cooperated. A group of about 8 or 10 came in about 8:30. As soon as one gave me a good shot opportunity, I drew back and let an arrow fly. It was true to the mark, and I saw blood pouring out of the pig as it ran off. I went back and got my tracking dog Zeke and put him on the trail. The shot was true, and the pig only went about 50yds. Zeke made quick work of it and led me right to her.
It was already starting to get hot, so I snapped a few pics and headed to the cleaning rack!
I really love my Primal Tech bows. I was worried about the low draw weight and hunting, but my arrow zipped thru that pig like it wasn’t even standing there. I’m not worried anymore!!!! I’m going to give it a few weeks and see if my shooting stays at the level it is now with the lighter weight. If it does, I’m probably going to have my recurve reduced also. It feels really good to have a little confidence back!!!!!
