Who's going to "The Real Thing"?

There's a really fun shoot coming up in Southern Louisiana later this month. It's set in a wildlife refuge and offers many realistic hunter situations in its target layout.
Info on this annual event just got posted on TradGang under the TRAD EVENTS and LOUISIANA: LOUISIANA TRADITIONAL BOWMEN threads.

Wislnwings,
I assume you'll be going from Gonzales. Take Airline to Fla blvd. Go East on Fla. Next intersection past Sherwood Forest is Flannery. Go North on Flannery which becomes North Flannery. Once you cross RR tracks go about a mile and look to your right you'll see the sign. If you intersect with Greenwell Springs Rd you missed it. Good luck.

I thought there was a map on our ARTAC web site, but don't see it now. So--here are various directions to Waddill Wildlife Refuge, depending on where you're coming from...
From St. Francisville (North of Baton Rouge):
HWY 61 South to I-110
I-110 approx. 3 miles to HWY 190 East
HWY 190 East approx. 3.5 miles to HWY 37 (Greenwell Springs Rd.)
HWY 37 East Approx. 4.5 miles to North Flannery Rd.
Turn right on North Flannery and go 1.2 miles to the entrance gate on the left.
From Port Allen (West of Baton Rouge):
I-10 East to I-12 East.
I-12 East to North Sherwood Forest (Exit 4)
North Sherwood Forest approx. 2.1 miles to Florida Blvd.
Turn right on Florida Blvd. and go approx. 1.4 miles to North Flannery Rd.
Turn left on North Flannery and go approx. 2 miles to the entrance gate on the right.
From Gonzales (South of Baton Rouge):
HWY 61 North to I-12
I-12 East to North Sherwood Forest (Exit 4)
North Sherwood Forest approx. 2.1 miles to Florida Blvd.
Turn right on Florida Blvd. and go approx. 1.4 miles to North Flannery Rd.
Turn left on North Flannery and go approx. 2 miles to the entrance gate on the right.
From Denham Springs (East of Baton Rouge):
I-12 West to O'Neal Lane (Exit 7)
North on O'Neal Lane approx. 1.6 miles to Florida Blvd.
Cross Florida Blvd. onto South Choctaw St.
South Choctaw St. approx. 1.7 miles to North Flannery Rd.
Turn right on North Flannery Rd. and go approx. 1.2 miles to the entrance gate on the right.

How about a real "shot in the dark"?
If you come on Saturday, try to stay late. There's gonna be a free dinner. As soon as it's dark, we'll hold the "Coon Shoot".
Flashlights & bug repellant are standard equipment. No tell'in what's gonna be out there.

"Free", that's a price even my wife won't argue with. I'm planning on going Friday after work and all day Saturday unless something comes up.

I'm planning on being there Saturday. I just need to decide what bow I'm shooting. I just received a second-hand Acadian Woods Treestick with Treestick and recurve limbs today, or maybe I should bring one of my Crow Creek Black Feathers, or...

Wislnwings, just bring'em.
If you want to shoot different bows/limbs for either "fun" or "score", let the front-table folks know and they'll work it out for you as to fees, scoring, etc.

If you think 3-D in Southern Louisiana means flat terrain and boring shots, you're in for a real surprise at "The Real Thing..."
The Waddill Wildlife Refuge is set in the Amite River "breaks". You will shoot up and down in terrain with short hills, ravines and creek beds.
Good natural backstops and NO ROCKS!

If anyone is interested I'll try to remember Saturday to bring at least one of the bow racks I finished today for the St. Jude's auction. That way you can see them before bidding.
