Quiver inserts

Does anyone have a suggestion on someone to install quiver inserts on a bow? I want the heavy shouldered brass inserts like on some of the older customs I’ve had like Big Horn, Schafer, or Dale Dye. The inserts at 3 rivers are not heavy duty like the ones I’ve mentioned. Don’t have a source for that style or someone to install. I don’t have a press so would rather someone install who is better equipped.

You are right on the money about the smaller inserts using a 10/24 thread not being stout enough for quivers. They use them for sights ok, and i've put them in bows for quivers too.... But they just don't hold up well.

The problem with using a heavy duty insert is the size needed are not attractive in the least.   Here are some to look at that are 1/4 / 20 thread. but these are pretty shallow and may come loose like the others.

This type will be much more solid and will not come out. But you need to drill and tap the wood to install them. These are very similar to the std threaded insert used for bow bolts on a take down bow. But those are 5/16-18 thread inside.

Thanks for the links; yes those are much better inserts. I like the idea of tapping and screwing them in; much better - I may take you up on this..,

I installed 10/24 inserts from 3Rivers on a couple of bows and use them for bow quivers no problem at all. Just drill the right size hole and install with epoxy. Stronger than the quiver attached to it.

Kirk- How do you find those inserts without a top flange on them in regards to them wanting to pull out? What I'm getting at is that with the flange the bolt tightens onto the flange. With no flange and the insert flush with the timber does the bolt want to pull the insert out of the timber when whatever bracket you're bolting down bottoms out on the timber? Do you find you need a gasket or anything because of that too? With flanges sitting slightly proud of the timber my bracket tightens against the flange not the timber. There is no bolt torque wanting to pull the insert out of the timber this way.

Any concern about compromising the integrity of a riser by removing more wood with bigger holes to accommodate larger inserts?
 
On my Border I only had enough room as it was with 10/24 inserts while avoiding drilling into and violating the carbon laminations in the riser which the bowyer advised not to touch out of concerns for compromising the structural integrity they provide. Especially so since they are in the thinnest part of the riser opposite the sight window. If they were out on the ends like a bear quiver style mount then it probably wouldn't matter.
