Out of Production Broadheads
« on: August 31, 2022, 05:37:17 PM »
As a rule I am a 3-blade guy, Wensel Woodsman or VPAs, but as I age I have a few lighter weight bows and am using some 2-blades with them.  I know there are a lot of good 2-blades out there so that isn't the issue.  However, today I was touching up some small Pearson Deadheads and some Magnus I Classics that I have mounted on some nice cedars and I thinking what a shame it is that they are out of production.  I guess I understand the Deadheads as it has been a long time, but the Magnus I's have not been gone that long.  If I was a younger man it would be tempting to try to track down who owns the rights to them and see if a deal could be struck.  I have friends in the tool & die trade that might be willing to join an old businessman.

I don’t know of any patents that still exist on most traditional flat blades. You can make them and sell them.

Yes I’m glad I bought a whole heap of magnus broadheads right before I started having kids and slowing my hunting down- wish the magnus traditional line would re-emerge. Easy to sharpen and 5 out of 6 I could get to spin. Infinite choices with glue in adapters - maybe one day someone will take over. I’ve thought about it myself but just too many irons in the fire to make broadheads too.

I would love to see the old STOS broadheads come back. I think they moved from Colorado to Texas and then disappeared.

Plus 1 for bringing back the STOS.  Talk about an easy one to get hair popping sharp.  Were always a breeze to get to spin true and always flew great for me.  I still have a half dozen 145’s I’ll save for the right occasion.

Plus2 for STOS heads. I have quite a few 160, and 145 grain.

x3 STOS. I only have one that was given to me. What a great looking head.

I have a dozen or more of the Magnus 1's. Nice head with a bit more width.

The Australian made Blackstump broadheads were a mainstay here. I believe they were among the strongest heads tested be Ashby. Shame they are no longer made.

I mounted some Magnus II broadheads yesterday on some 60-65 Wapiti POC arrows for this season. I would love to see them put into production again.

I just found 4 Magnus Snuffers in my basement from probably 20 years ago. I screwed them on and they spun great. Shot the broadhead and FP's to the same POI at 20 yards without having to make any adjustments. I love it when a tune comes together like that!  :clapper:

Some years ago, it crossed my mind to look into this very thing. However, I soon realized that since I had no metal working experience and was a bit too old, I probably should not try to follow through on it. Sometimes, I still think I should have. given it a try.
