Australia Buffalo Hunt
« on: September 09, 2022, 04:55:13 PM »
Just got back from Australia on a Buffalo hunt with two fellow stickbow hunters.  It was epic and we took 5 Buffalo, 1 scrub bull and a hog.  Brutal hunting conditions with temps at 100 degrees but we had a blast.
I took a Buffalo that has been a lifelong dream and also a huge scrub bull.  We filmed several of the hunts and will
produce a video in the near future for our YouTube channel.
I absolutely love these adventure hunts in far away lands.
I was shooting my 25 year old Black Widow SA-3 with 70 pound limbs.  Arrows were Easton FMJ with 300g Tuffheads. Total arrow weight was 940g.    [

Well done Jerry,

Congratulations on achieving a life-long dream

Thats a good Scrub Bull and a fine Buffalo too.

It sure is a fantastic way to spend some time in the sun.

I'm always looking for the opportunity to do it again..

Best
Lex
Good hunting to you all.

A little swamped with work right now, but I will add some details later.   On my part, this was the most physically taxing hunt that I have ever been on, covering lots of miles in 100 degree temps, with relatively little morning hunting  when there would have been slightly cooler temps.  This was mostly to allow the wind to pick up to improve stalking conditions and to allow for time for the buffalo to get to the river and drainages where they would be more stalkable.

I have never had a hunt in which my performance was so poor, but I also had some bad luck and equipment failures that didn't help matters much.  I will explains some of these a little bit later.
