USPS

Prolly done with USPS shipped a bow to Texas and looks like the box was ran over by a truck. cracked the riser. was a Bear TD and looks like the bracket is dislocated.
The PO says I got to file online.Online said can do it at PO. Who has filed a claim here ?

Sender has to file but you should be getting help from the buyers PO where the damaged items needs to go. Then when filing your PO should help you after receiving the insurance claim from the buyers PO.

The previous times I’ve filed have always been done face to face with a Postmaster or employee in the know, which is very hard to find these days.

hopefully you had it covered for full replacement value. But when USPS does the damage, you really shouldn't have to have insurance at all. THEIR ins company should cover it.   Kirk

Oh I agree Kirk just another way to get your money..
Shipped one to Ky. About a 3 hour drive even at today's gas prices I could have almost delivered it as cheap.

I have done 2  claims, a damage claim online and a missing claim by calling the postmaster at my post office.

You need to register online for a USPS account in order to file a claim.

I sent mad max some bamboo and it took a month for it to arrive, it arrived after the postmaster tracked/found  it laying in a building in Pittsburgh.

The only way I'll ship a bow now is in a 3 or 4 inch plastic pipe.

The heavy PVC pipe is incredibly strong, but they really  need cardboard corners taped on them so they don’t roll around. I’ve heard of  many of these getting folded up on a conveyor belt in the distribution centers because they roll around too much. They also roll around in delivery trucks too.

Unfortunately "stuff" happens. Start eliminating shippers because they damaged or lost your package, and you are going to run out of options real fast. :tongue:

Yes, I get those triangle shipping boxes from the post office and affix them around the pipe.

A bill of sale does not work
If you send a brand new Bear bow back for repair for what ever reason and the shipper lost or broke it you could get full price.
A individual with no website will have trouble getting his money.

Bill of sale does work, in fact that is all the proof I've ever needed. The value is the price someone paid for it. Don't let them jam you around.

You paid for insurance, assigned a value for package when you did, and now you have the damaged package and item contained inside. Cut and dried, don't let them make excuses for their failures!

They behind the counter people here get dumbfounded when you ask them to do anything they don't want to do. Prices too high extra for longer boxes etc.  :dunno:

That was a takedown, should have needed a box under 30” in length so only $4 surcharge.

Good luck trying  to get insurance using FedEx or UPS. And get ready to bend over on the shipping rates too.

A TD Bear bow will fit nicely in a Large Flat Rate Priority mail box and you can send it anywhere in US for about 25.00 plus insurance. I just shipped one last week myself. I’ve had great luck with USPS for many years.

With ins. To Texas from IN. WAS 52.00.
Shipped one about three months ago insured about 200 miles 35 bucks
Two bows went 75 miles 25 bucks. Apiece
I will ship any way people want but they have to pay.

You know that box I just referenced that  I shipped USPS a couple weeks ago? The customer told me the box was seriously mangled, but the bow was fine. 

Go figure….. I haven’t had many issues, but found it ironic that this thread comes up and I get a mangled shipment for the first time in years… We gotta kill this thread before anyone else starts getting bad karma. :biglaugh:    Kirk
