I could Charlie this one out because it's rainin, but it's sposed to quit in a bit and it's 52 degrees so I may have a place to be...
He wasn't big enough for this early in season (sorry meat hunters
) and besides he's 60 yards.
Now the squirrels are raising cane just to my left and the first doe is coming in, she goes behind a double tree and I stand up.
She is grazing on weeds I guess, stuff is about knee high on me(no short jokes please!)
I'm ready ,she stops ,and without conscious thought the arrow is gone. She bolts off in the creek bed and goes South at full speed , I can hear water splashing for a little ways , then silence.
I thought I saw the arrow break and flip off to the side, but when I went to look for blood there it was stuck in the dirt so must have been a weed or stick that flew off to the side.
Gave her about 20 minutes ,which is about how long I sat in stand and went down in the creek, they always go to the deepest place they can, and there she was, total about 60 yards.
Once again, I'm amazed like always at the killing power of a sharp broadhead.
Bro John came and helped with recovery and field dressing.
