Glad to see the Zwickey selected by many of you-- as advertised, it is the world's best broadhead.  They have served me well for over 50 years.

I hear ya Ronald, they have been my favorite head far and away for over 30 years.  I chose a different head however for survival.

Tooth of the Arrow 4 Blade solid series.
One piece machined steel, holds an edge well, and fly true.
Hunting is the fun part, once you kill something the work begins

For woodies, I would stick to Abowyer Wapitis. I have had good luck with them in the past.
The heads made recently show a better grind and better overall quality than those of just a few years ago.
I got a handful their screw-on 200gr Bone Heads to tip some Day Six shafts for my recurve, just in case my ASL doesn't make it here in time for the next hunting opportunity.

What I would choose is not my favorite, but would work well.  A solid three blade like a 300 grain 1 1/2” VPA.  Even the 1 1/4” 300 or 250 grain 3 blade VPA.   My favorite is a cut on contact 4 blade like a z delta 4 or a Magnus 4 blade.

Zwickey Eskimo 125 grain with glued-in threaded adapter, so the adapter can be removed to use on other type of arrows.

Good solid two blade would probably be the best option.  Without a good sharpening tool.

It is and hard wood too. When I  used to give one away on St Judes, I had the highest percentage of kill shots of any broadhead manufacture in the US. Then one guy missed and my percentage plummeted.  It takes as long to forge a broadhead as to forge a knife...getting weight and spin balance correct.

I killed 14 deer with one DZ4, and ALMOST lost in at Solana on a boar hog.... so I retired it at 15 kills.

Great story here too....

Was invited back in the day over to someone's house to shoot bows at the season was about to start.  They were asking my what kind of Bhead I was using as they were using the popular replaceable of the day.

I proceeded to take my 1st shot with a ZD4 and I shot thought their Bhead target and the point was sticking out like your pic above from the 1x6 board he had as part of his 'prop up frame.

Needless to say, they were speechless.  :biglaugh:
