Roll pin size for bear takedown latch keeper
« on: November 04, 2022, 03:57:05 PM »
Anyone know the diameter and length of the tiny roll pin that secures the bottom of the latch keeper on a Bear mag riser?

Maybe nobody cares but Bear sent me the pin in a latch kit.  It is  1/16” (.0625)pin and .315 long.  It’s real fun to put in :biglaugh:

I was able to do it by putting a cut off toothpick in from the bottom to align  the keeper and driving the roll pin in from the top.

I use a cut off finish nail (filed flat with rough edges removed) to drive the roll pin into the hole. I use a needle nose pliers to position the pin over the hole and even get it started.  Never heard of those pins coming out on their own.  Did yours fall out, or did you take it out to refinish the riser?  I've done the latter on several risers.

I've taken a A mag apart to refinish but couldn't remember the size. Lets see a pix of the finished project.
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

Here's one I re-did recently.  All the parts were there, but finish was pretty bad.  Took it apart, stripped the finish and had it powder coated.

Here's another.  This one was in a bit worse shape.  Had to fill a few holes on the reverse side.  I'm rather partial to older Mag risers. Don't know why the pics are posting horizontally.
