Lower to mid 40# total arrow weight

For you guys shooting lower to mid 40# bows what are your total arrow weights?

 Also what is your broadhead weight and are you loading the front end up with brass/stainless inserts for a high or extreme FOC? Or are you shooting something like 300 grains to offset the lighter inserts?

 If not, there is no need to try to prove why you don't feel it isn't necessary.

9 - 10 grains per pound with sharp 2 blade broadheads. Fly nice and slip right through, the key here is "sharp."

I am shooting 43lbs. 600 Legacy carbons with 150 grs. up front for a total arrow weight of 395 grs.

15 -18 grains per pound ( My setups are all between 700 and 800 grains). Super sharp (shaves like a brand new razor sharp) two blade, single bevel broadheads.
Arrows hit hard, fly straight, and your bow will be very quiet.

Douglas Fir wood shafts
75 - 100 grain woody weights (depends upon which bow)
190 grain - 200 grain broadhead

42 pound longbow shooting 540 grain arrows, 125 grain Magnus Stinger 4 blade broadheads and a 50 grain insert.  I've killed a dozen deer with this setup and always get 2 holes.

so, i have never hunted with less than 55 lbs and don't really have a dog in this fight. But when the time comes that I have to shoot that light, I will shoot 10 gpp and strive to have most of the weight up front.
Just too much crazy going on with arrow weight.. but then, it is your choice.

I've killed deer with heavier 500 gr weights.  I've killed plenty, also with arrows in the 10gpp range.  Since I haven't noticed one bit of difference in penetration/outcome between the 10gpp and 14gpp arrows I'm sticking w the 10gpp set up.  I like to practice and shoot 3d with what I hunt with-- for me the heavy arrow hits 15" low at 30 while the lighter arrow is right on.  I've found a few inches more disparity between 10-20 yds w the heavier arrow also.  They'll both work in the deer woods--- shoot what shoots best for you--- the above only illustrates my experience.  Big Jim has a good point.

Penetration issues happen to everyone who shoots enough animals.
I have shot animals many times with arrow weights of 650 to 880 out of 65-85 bows. I have on many occasions not gotten a pass through. Arrow flew well, hit was good, but maybe the angle was more extreme and or an alert animal. It happens.

Hence the exact reason for such heavy weight and shooting very close at 10 plus or minus yards
I want to limit my variables where possible.
Tight quartering away shots present themselves most often, due to my particular ambush spot.

I just had some seriously disappointing results from 10gpp from a low 40's bow.  I know, I know.  Tune your arrows. Sharpen your heads better etc....  500gr and up for me now on.

I’m shooting 49# and my cedar arrows are right around 550 or so. Gives me the best balance between weight and trajectory.

That's what I am thinking. Figure out maximum shooting distance and as long as you can live with trajectory go as heavy as you can.  I see no negatives to this type of thinking.
