« on: May 09, 2008, 09:00:00 PM »
Hi guys I hope someone can help me I have started to knap my own points but as yet am not good enough to be able to use them for hunting so was trying to find someone that I can pay to make some points for me.One day I will use my own but its a slow learning process as there is not anyone here in Australia that I can get together with to learn.

First off, get some obsidian preforms to learn on. They are much easier to work and you will learn with each head you make.
I would try neolithics, paleoplanet or one of the many knapping sites.
You could also try running an ad in the classifieds here. Quite a few great knappers here.
Good luck breaking rock, it gets addicting. And wear gloves....trust me.  :)

If you can get ahold of Jay in Oz over on stickbow, I'm sure he would help you on the knapping.  I sent him some flint once snd he made some nice heads out of it so know he knows how.  Also, think he told me once there is a bunch of guys there that get together to knap.  Take care, Swabby

Check out a web site called Paleo Planet.  Mostly knapping info.
