Fellow Ganger loaned me this book by Ed Pitchkites.  Only a couple chapters in and it will be a treasure.  Thanks Mike.

Years ago, a member thought it would be a suprize, if the members here all sent Ed a Birthday card....

I did, (one of MANY here also) and in return, I got a nice Thank You letter from Ed, a Dream Catcher that he made,
a cassette tape, and one of his books. They are some of my most prized possessions!!! :notworthy:

His book is a fantastic read!!!! :archer:
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

Ed was quite a guy and bowhunter!  I still laugh when I see my name and Jerry Pierce's both misspelled as he gave us credit for helping him with the book.

I visited with Ed for many years at the Cloverdale Indiana Nationals. I have a box full of dream catchers Ed made for Pat and me. He would send us Christmas cards each year with audio tapes or long, rambling letters.

I first met Ed in the late 70’s at an archery shoot in east central Illinois. He saw I had a longbow, and came running up to shake my hand. He was one of a kind, and a great guy!

Ed’s first bow that he used to kill the first buck in the modern Indiana bow season, was aluminum.

Like how he pussy foots around his feelings about "non-traditional" equipment.

My dad knew him very well and hunted with him years ago. I was just out in the garage yesterday with a couple buddy’s processing some deer and brought him and his book up. My dad let me have it to read many years ago and what an awesome read it was. He asked for it back to let someone else read it and dad apparently lost it. Luckily this morning I found one copy online for 20 bucks and snatched it up.

Definitely written by a common man.  But in an uncommon way.

Miss my old man and all his awesome old hunting stories. Was just reminded this past weekend that Ed was with him and the group to Casper, Wyoming on a Pronghorn hunting trip. My dad had some great stories of that trip of how they got them out there. My dads got in Pope and Young.

Is that book still available to purchase?  If so, how?

I will try and get in touch with some of Ed's family and see if they still have any copies. May take me a few days.

Ed was a fine man.  His thoughts were much like some of us today.  He also was not afraid to voice his opinion.  A live well lived.  Would have really liked to talk with him.
