I’ve always loved this saying from Gene Wenzel
« on: November 26, 2022, 01:55:05 AM »
Ever since I saw the first Primal Dreams video I fell in love with this saying from Gene Wenzel. I’m a full time Taxidermist, outfitter, guide and a passionate tradition l bowhunter for the past 30 years and this saying means the world to me. I’m getting older and more sore and all I have is my life long memories of my many adventures.

Fantastic saying that I think strikes a chord with us all. I know some day I will slow down or not be able to do it at all. But I am getting close to starting a whole new adventure; enjoying it with my kids. Then someday I will pass the torch and smile about the memories they are making too.

Terry , I used to have that cassette, was wondering the other day what happened to it. I can’t open a pasture gate without remembering Gene talking about the guy closing the gate and then climbing over it. Let us know what you find.

A couple of my favorite Gene Wenzel quotes:
" I usually try to hold out for fully mature 5.5-year-old or better bucks. But when you turn seventy years old it's okay to shoot 4.5-year-old bucks because otherwise they might outlive you."   :bigsmyl:
"When I was young, I'd stand in my treestand until my feet got sore, then I'd sit down. Now that I'm old I sit in my treestand until my buttocks get sore.. then I stand up."  :goldtooth:

You would like to think that by now people would know how to properly spell Gene and Barry’s last name!

Unquote "John Cargo." (John, as in toilet?)
I can't take credit for that opening line of Primal Dreams. I think the late/great Dean Torges fine-tuned that one for us. He was the wordsmith.

Papou, The Dean, of eternal memory, would know who that is, had a few sayings. My dad did too. May their memory be eternal.

That is true about hunting. I can't hunt much but dream of it often.
