Glad to see you made it back on, Pappy. Glad to help out where I can.
I'll be at Twin Oaks a week from tomorrow and chomping at the bit getting ready to hit the road. Tell Mike to keep my tent site open for me.

Never been before so am just wondering if there is a place where I could sell a few bows and some shafting by my truck? Maybe set out a small table?

Thanks

Kelly you can do what we call tail gate, some set up small tables by their camp or off the back of their truck, I am really out of room in the vendors area but you are welcome to do that if you like. See yall soon.

My new canoe should be here this Monday, so I’m in! Looking forward to the shoot, but not the drive down that way!

A welcoming sight at Twin Oaks, the front porch of Pappy's cabin. It all starts next Friday but folks are already there. I'll be leaving Tuesday morning. Can't wait to get there and see lots of good folks again.    :campfire:

Fool on the hill again! Beautiful misted full moon. Spent a delightful afternoon with Teresa Asbell, watched knappers pursuing their occult craft, shopped, read a book and generally lollygagged.
Life is good!

So, here I am again.

People saying howdy, some I have to relearn their names, some that slip back into the previous conversation and continue as though no time had passed.

And then all hell broke loose.
I had been wanting a lower poundage longbow since beginning a duel with DeQuervain’s tendonitis last September. I thought that maybe I would run into such an animal here. Ya reckon?

I can shoot my 46 pounder, but only have so many shots before my wrist tuckers out and I go back to the bullpen, like a pitcher in the fifth inning. I wanna finish a course and strengthen the muscles that I have been working on for six months. And I have always avoided highly hyped “popular” trends and products.

But all hell broke loose.

I am a fallen woman.
Black Widow showed up and I fell. I recognized the salesman from Kalamazoo in 2012. Such a nice guy. So good at selling a bow to the infirm. No struggle. No weeping over my weakness, no blaming the victor.

Shortly after a thorough perusal of longbow offerings, I selected one for a try at the practice range.
Shortly before departure to said practice range, a very annoying horse trader showed up. He expressed an interest in my choice, fondled my Centaur in an impure way, and mentioned a Black Widow residing in his truck, which he was interested in trading.

I allowed him to go get it, getting him out of my face, and went to try the bow. It will do.
Nicely!

The toxic trader showed up. I allowed him to try the Widow. I cringed and allowed him to try my Centaur (which will probably be buried with me).  I declined to try his bow, a plain Jane one piece Widow 2 pounds lighter than the bow I was trying. I bought the Widow, saving it from a lifetime of degradation in those grubby paws. I wiped down the Centaur with Purell. :saywhat:

I was not looking for a takedown, this is only the second in my collection, the first being a Morrison Cheyenne. But the specs suited me, it was friendly to the eye, and most importantly, shot well, quickly and quietly. It likes my GT 600s with a 100 grain insert and 175 grain point.

More news to come, including something very special!

I just got home from the Tennessee Classic. First time for me. What a great shoot. All the folks working there are to be commended on their time and  hard work to put on such a shoot. Also the guys at the bow building shed were great and very helpful. Thank you !!

Thanks to everyone connected with the Tennessee Classic for all their efforts in connection with this event. It was even better this year than it was the last time I attended 2 years ago. A special thanks to Scott (Friend) for all of his hospitality and friendship while I was here.

I'll post some more pics after I get rid of the spider webs from driving 7 hours in downpours and heavy traffic but here a few to start with...

early on in the check in line

secondary parking above the venders
