Three to four times a year I get to hunt with my best friend from college. We’ve been best friends from the first time we met almost 50 years ago. Through the years we have probably been on a couple of hundred hunts together from the swamps in South Georgia, the mountains in North Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, And Missouri. We are both closer to our sunset than our sunrise! Our minds are still young but our bodies are starting to feel the years.
I haven’t posted much over the last few years about any of my successful hunts. I’ve posted an occasional picture in the highlights section but mostly been an”atttaboy” to especially the newcomers to traditional bow hunting that have success-full hunts.
This wasn’t a hunt where a monster deer was killed but what a time we had. When we get together now most of our hunts are either in a ground blind together or two lockons together so we can enjoy each other’s success. On this particular hunt from Friday afternoon til Sunday morning we probably saw 30 or more deer. We got to witness bucks still chasing some does, but none gave us a shot opportunity. We did make some more memories. We did witness several does standing up on their hind legs fighting like kangaroos and AND whipping some young bucks butts cause they weren’t interested in anything they had to offer.
Anyway, to make a long story short, as I’ve aged I cherish these moments with my best hunting buddy (and best friend) cause we don’t know how many more we will be blessed with. The hunt would have been a success even without a kill but I did get some meat for the freezer
I used my Cari-bow Peregrine 62 in 48@27. GT 3550 with 50 gr inserts 29.5 inches long with a 2 blade Magnus stinger. Hope I didn’t bore you guys and girls with my nostalgia but thanks for reading.
