I built a Hybrid long bow for my nephew this year. They live down on the coast about 90 miles from here, and rarely visit for Christmas. When i started building it, i needed his specs. So i called him and told him i was building something for him this year. My kids, my brothers, and my other nephew all have recieved bows in the past years. Its Matt's turn this year.....
I've got a sneaking suspicion he'll make it to our Christmas gathering this year even though the weather is pretty rough right now. There is a 1/4" of Ice all over everything in the Portland area right now, and a bit more out in the country for us. Hopefully we wont get too much more and loose our power. That is pretty common in these ice storms we get out here.
Good news is it warms up and turns to rain on Christmas eve day. So Christmas eve and Christmas day should provide safer traveling. The problem is.... Matt needs to come over the coastal mountain range to get here. But .....that boy is hard core. Have 4 wheel drive, will travel. I'm betting he'll make the trip knowing he has a new toy when he gets here...
No photos of this one yet... It's Mac Ebony with a Bubinga footing, & Brown glass. 55 @ 28". I had a tough time getting it to 30" draw in this cold weather. but its a rocket launcher i tell ya.
My daughter got a vanity last Christmas, and i built her a bench seat to match it this year. I had some fun with this thing and built a secret compartment under the seat. I put a piano hinge on one side of the Upholstered seat, and then came up with a unique locking system to keep it from opening. I drilled a 3/8" hole though the front of the bench that i mounted a wood carving on a dowel that slides inside. To open the seat up, the wood carving needs to be rotated 180 degrees and pulled out through the keyed metal bracket i mounted under the seat....
I've got it all finished except the actual carving, and i'll have that finished and sprayed this afternoon....I cut this one right to the wire on timing...
I'm still working on the wood carving right now, but.... It Works great!!!!
