Arrow for ASL
« on: January 06, 2023, 12:39:16 PM »
Just picked up a used JD Berry Morningstar. It’s 66” 46@26 and I’m pulling 28. I’m looking recommendations on which Xx75 camo hunter shafts for a 200g head. I’d like to cut them to 29.5. Thanks.

A 2016 should be pretty close.

So draw weight is 50-52# and with 200 grain point and 29.5” bop arrow think 2018 or 2115 are better choices, imo.

I was considering those, too, Kelly.  However, because the Morning Star is cut an eighth inch proud of center, and he's drawing 28, not more, and maybe less if he hasn't shot a straight grip before, I went with the slghtly softer spine --61# vs. 67#-70#.  That being said, I've always been able to overspine my bows, even ASLs, by quite a bit so the heavier spine shafts would also likely work.

IMO, total arrow BOP length needs to be considered too so that is another 1 1/2” beyond 28”.

If it's not cut to center under spine.

I had one like that. It seems to me it liked 55/60 or 2016, on the 55/60 I was using 160 grain heads.
