Longbow head dunking

Looking to pick the brains clean on you longbow fellers.

 I'm in the market for one just because. I'm a 30 inch draw 55 max , 3 under guy that loves speed,  can't stand stack, don't like noise and that likes the bow to speak with it's beauty.

I figure that narrows me down to a fast flight compatable, 64 or 66" one piece R/D longbow. Deer from seat and climber and hog hunt from ground primary use but it needs to have great finish as I am blessed to hunt everyday.

Really liking the Schafer but can't find reviews on the longbow. 

Really like the BW but something about mainstream popularity makes me want to own from a smaller Bowyer.

Really like the Toelke no buts.

Omega seems to fit for an entry.

I've heard Squatch, Centaur but can't find much on them. 

Others?

Really need a review on the Schafer one piece long bow.


So if you have a spare second holler out your thoughts at me. I'm a buy once cry once kind of guy.

As to Black Widows, they are not main stream, they make custom bows and custom artwork. 

As to Sasquatch, Black Widow and Centaur, I have owned all 3 and either one would be what you are looking for also.  If you have any other questions just ask here.

By main stream I meant highly popular. I should mention I prefer the less commercialized things in life though. I would own another BW for certain.  Owned a great PMA for awhile.

The reason Black Widow and Toelke are so "popular" is because their bows are so amazingly good.

They are not factory bows, and you won't find better long term customer service or nicer people to work with.

What more could anyone want from a custom bowyer?

There are few things more fun than buying a new custom longbow. Best of luck on your search.

I have a 62" caribow perigrine that's 56# at my 31.5 draw. It flings my 600sh grain arrows very well, and there isn't many bows as pretty as Abe's.

I second keng on the Cari-bow Peregrine.  I have 2 and I love them both. I have a flatliner by Kirk at bigfoot, and a Toelke. You couldn’t go wrong with any of those. Good luck in your search.

I'm a Black Widow guy, I love mine.  But I've always liked Java-Man longbows, and I believe he builds a longer Elkhart (or Falcon?) that seems like it would be great for longer draws.  Also Cari-bow, Toelke, Acadian Woods .. so many great options out there. Maybe go to a Trad show or rendezvous and try out a bunch of bows there.... that would be the way to go.

Had three of those.But not the Omega.

Black widow practically bomb proof.Very solid shooter and stable limb.A few grip options.Standard or Toby but will do something custom in the grip.64 or 66 inch would work for you.I had 3 of those.Shorter draw than you.I liked the 64 incher all around for me.T.D feature is nice if you want that.

Had Centaurs in 58,60 and 62 inches.I liked the 60 incher most overall.But dont draw as long as you.The 62 or 64 would be fine for you IMO.I had most his limb choices from all glass,to carbon backed with glass,double carbon and tripple carbon.Never had the glass with carbon core.I do like his all glass bow!For me longer was not always better in certain bows

If I ordered one I would just go all out and get tripple carbon with the dark matter riser.2 grip styles with his bows.Depends what you like in that regard.Ones not superior to the other.Some will like one some the other.Thier tough and exquisitely crafted.It the fastest of the 3 your looking at.Does not mean you will like it more though.Accuracy trumps everything.Its a longer wait for one as well.

Toelke whip is a very nice all around shooter.He also offers that in a 10x model as you know if your looking at them.Classic grip or thumb rest grip.Quiet and pleasant shooter with good speed.The 2 had were 64 inches.Always good to talk to Bowyer about what length to choose for your purposes and what to expect from 64 or 66 incher at your draw.

Those are all good choices in a nutshell.Hard to pick one without testing them out personally honestly.

I have a 64” Whip and a 64” PLX, both takedowns.  The profiles are almost identical.  The PLX definitely has more mass if that makes a difference to you, otherwise I think it would come down to which grip you find more comfortable.

Silver tips look great and feel great in the hand but are not one of the faster bows around.
