So you killed a mouse and put it in your coffee cup???  Folks, that is getting some protein with your morning joe- pretty hardcore hunter, but we knew that.  Those pups looked like they turned out nicely.

What a day.  I’ve never hunted Javi before and consider myself lucky to be here with this cast of characters.  Terry showed huckbuck and I the ropes yesterday and gave us some good pointers.  This morning huck and I were on them right away.  We set up about 80 yards from one another and I was lucky enough to have a group of 4 head my way… literally. After about 30 minutes they were close!  I waited and let the first 2 pass but decided to take the third.  As she was about 11 yards I drew back the elkheart and held for a few seconds.  Once quartering away I let the wood shaft go and it found its mark.  That’s when it got really interesting as all four broke into full stride directly at me.  When I stood up they were about 2 ft and finally scattered.  She toppled over about 20 ft from me.  Some real excitement for sure.  Terry was right this is a target rich environment and beautiful country.
This evening was a good story for Huck which I happened to catch on video….more to come.   [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]  [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]  [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]  [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]  [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

The morning coffee report...

Backwoods Grind has two new roasts that we are evaluating this year.  As those of you that know, are  aware that High Noon has been overwhelmingly chosen as the favorite brew of the LTR Hunters every year.

Well, this morning High Noon still is 1 but Lost Brake has made it officially #2 by the vets of LTR, and by the new guys it came in #2 as well.

Well last night was a hoot.  Huckbuck and I were headed back to camp and there were three decent javi’s on the way back. It was just before dusk but still good shooting light.  We pulled within 30 yards and put the truck in park and Huck slid slowly out of the truck and grabbed his bow.  Two of the javi’s had seen enough and darted into the thick stuff.  However one remained and the stalk was on!  I was in a great spot….(still in the truck) for a video of what we thought was just messin with em.  Turns out Huck slowly closed the gap to 15 yards and waited for a good shot.  After a brief stare down the arrow was on its way!  From trail to grill!!  [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Congratulations all.  Looks like another good trip happening.
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.
