String silencers: The art of attachment……
« on: March 04, 2023, 10:02:13 AM »
…..and I ain’t gettin’ it! I have successfully installed fur strips, but for the life of me, I cannot get yarn(diy or bought), para-cord sleeving, or cat whiskers to look right, like they do it on YT, or it just will not stay on/in the string. I have installed puffs after tying them in the middle, then placing in middle of string material and when it’s held firmly after stringing, I have even tried tying them in. Nothing works, the come out within 50 arrows. That’s the problem with puffs and para cord sleeves, I have no luck with the cat whiskers. Watched a ton of vids but I just cannot get them to look like the guys do online and their performance are not that great anyway. I do prefer the fur things as they work great, but like the looks of the balls. Am I a puff ball retard?

Hey Johnny
For cat whiskers, go to addictive archery on youtuby...and watch"Tying Cat Whiskers on a bow string".Trick to nice round ones is Good amount of TENSION when tying  them off !

That is how I tie those "ON" the string...wool puffs of all types I slip through the string bundle. Most times it is NOT necessary to tie them off as they are center tied  to hold the bundle together and the twisted string holds the bundle . Just need shot-in to puff them up ;)

Hope that helps my friend....

All I can do is thank Terry for taking time out of his day to drive over my way to help out a complete stranger. Watching Terry shoot and just listening to his words have much improved my shooting. I was always wary of shooting instinctive but now that’s the way I am doing it, staying close, fresh paper with small dot, and getting some impressive, and more importantly, repetitive good groups out to about 12 yards. Thanks again for all the help and especially to Terry, next meeting I will have more pistachio muffins!
Attached is my first group this morning at 12 yds. Good stuff, to me, and I am so much more aware of my release especially.
