Paul, I've shot the one 1 7/8" SF I'm using for practice in about every condition from dead calm to 30mph....they do not plane any worse than my STOS. Hard to beleive but they sure do fly well. Could be because they are the straightest head I've seen. It's also pretty darn sharp after going through my rubber broadhead mat 50 times or so.
I sometimes use the paperwheel system on my grinder for 2blades, gets that wicked mirror polished edge. But sometimes, I file sharpen...and it works just as well to me...but that's a whole nuther thread there
Opinons are going to vary...and personal/anecdotal evidence is very convincing to each guy. Thankfully, there's lots of choices out there for us to choose from. That's why you'll typically find a 2blade, a 3blade, a 4blade, and a blunt in my 4 arrow quiver. Sometimes I'll even choose which broadhead on a whim because the specific models I use all have 100% success rate for me. Same for taking a different bow in the woods...if proven it will probably get a replay until it fails, or my taste may just change. Right now, I like all the heads I own to a degree, with no clear "perfect head under all circumstances"...though I'm tinkering with slotting my STOS heads to add a very flexible spring steel bleeder and that just may be the perfect broadhead for me.
