The box had crook in it not busted. My guess is something heavier was thrown on it or someone could have stepped on it if it wasnt laying flat

They made me prove what it was worth.
You can tell them what you paid for it and they still want you to prove what it worth.

That's pretty sad Mike..... With your luck, you should go buy a lottery ticket...

The PVC tube with cardboard corners taped on it so it doesn't roll would probably be the safest way to ship a one piece.... Or you could use 2x4's and build a box...

Sorry to hear this....  Kirk

I hear what everyone is saying but something insured  for$1000 should be handled with kid gloves you would think. Plus the fact they charged $52 to ship and that part prolly not covered.

My understanding is that the insurance status of a package  is unknown to anybody who handles it during shipment.

I was thinking the same thing or atleast maybe a block of mini cell foam to support any weight on the box for the take-down.

There is no reason they should not hold up if handled right. But too many times that don't happen  so PVC will prolly be good.

I am sorry for your loss - I feel even this case should have been packed in bubble wrap and cardboard. You just can’t be certain how people will handle stuff that is clearly insured and fragile!

I sent a recurve down to Texas heavy duty homemade reinforced cardboard box. Extra layers of cardboard and 10 inches was missing from the box when it got there. Luckily nothing was wrong with the bow so it must have happened in the last leg of its journey. The box I had was previously made by another well-known hobby bowyer. And there was fragile stickers all over it. I don't know if that makes them think that they can handle it rougher and test the box or what. But I will never mark one fragile again even though it came on the box. JF
