Your Bow
« on: March 23, 2023, 07:30:19 PM »
Disclaimer:  I’m not trying to start a thread to sing the praises of any particular bowyer, but I’m curious if anyone else has a bow that they wouldn’t sell for the world. I’ve owned and sold quite a few, but I have one that I always go back to. It fits in my hand like an extension of my body and I shoot it better than any other.  I’m inclined to treat bows like tools, but I’ve developed a certain attachment to one. So, who else has that one bow?   :campfire:

JavaMan Elkheart - shoots right where I look, it'll be the last bow hangin' in my rack.
Randy

I also have an Asbell era Bighorn that is too heavy for me now, but too many memories for me to let it go.

Jerry, you must be a perfectionist! You’ve owned some great bows. I admire your search for “the one.”

My “the One” is a 66” stringfollow ASL that pulls 54@27”.  It has bamboo lams, a myrtle riser, and brown glass on the back and belly. To each their own, but I’m happy I found MY bow.

A Great Plains recurve.  I rarely shoot it anymore because I’ve become an ASL guy, but it was my first trad bow that my late father bought me as a college graduation gift, it’s autographed by Stacey Groscup, and the bow I got my first trad deer with.

I’ve settled on a 1 pc Thunderhorn longbow 60” 47@27”…always have been partial to shorter R/D longbows and this is my favorite so far… shoots awesome and  is just a really cool bow..one of our TG legends had it built.. Thanks, Carcajou(Scott Dillon)

I have several that I'm really fond of including a Sunset Hill and I have owned or shot about every bow made.  My Tall Tines recurve is "The One" that nobody can buy.

I’ve had one I really liked. I tried to duplicate it but the replacement just wasn’t quite the same. I have three or four possibilities, and want to settle on one bow for the future.

I do have a 68” longbow that I really like, but I think in some cases it’s just too long, and that limits its use. But it’s sure fun to shoot.

I have two. One is my Howard Hill Archery Wesley Special, and the other is my Shelton from Northern Mist. I don't shott the Wesley much anymore, because, at 65#, it has become more than I can easily handle. I have two Sheltons, but one is made of yew. This one is now my special baby.

I have 3!

2 are my current shooters; Primal Tech 3pc longbow and Primal Tech 3pc recurve.

The other is a Sarrels Blueridge 3pc longbow. It is beat up and used hard. I have probably killed more critters with that bow than any other bow I have ever owned, and it is appropriately named “The Black Plague”. This bow will never get sold till I’m dead and my wife gets rid of it!!! 😆😳😳😆

I just picked up a 30 year old Robertson Vision 2 piece hinge longbow and I can't put it down. I was scared of the hinge and I was worried that the grip wouldn't suit me but damn I was wrong. It helps the bow is mostly Bacote as I love that wood and the tiny micarta limb tips, totally cool.
