This is my first real custom bows. In late 1998 or early '99 I asked Mike Treadway to build a bow for me. Mike lives about 1 hour from me so I went to his home a few times during the process. I'd been hunting with a trad bow for a few years then but that fall I made my first trad kill(9/19/99), a nice fat doe that stood below me at 8' from my tree, not a shot I'd necessarily take again but a successful one that one time. This is one bow that I never intend to sell.

A few years ago I had Mike drop the weight a bit for me from 56#@26" to 48#@26" and it still shoots my original POC arrows as well as it did before reducing the weight.

Yeah I have a 58" 2 piece Primal Tech longbow I shoot well.  I can let it set weeks, pick it up and be on.  Just fits me well.  Too many kills with it to ever give it up.
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

Hopefully it will be the next  one. For now though, I would have to say my 64" LH Silvertip recurve.

I do have two bows that my Dad bought me that I would never sale for sentimental reasons. A Bear 1969 Green Fox and a Bear 1974 Grizzly. But as far as for shooting and especially hunting my two 1980s green stripe Bear Kodiak Takedowns (pictured) would be my picks. Actually, I still have every Bear bow I ever owned from my first I got in 1969 to the last a 2016 Bear Kodiak Takedown. I can't bring myself to sell any of them.  :bigsmyl:

If I got down to one bow only it would be my Bear T.Ds.

Its more than one bow really with a couple risers and 3 sets of limbs.

Cant beat the versatility and functionality and they shoot really nice and sweeeet in every respect.

I've had my share of customs over the years. Also a couple of Bear mag TD's that I sold. I agree with Eric. Bear mag TD's are the most versatile. Mine will be my last unless it breaks. It won't be too hard to find a replacement if it does.
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

Pigger, 60” Osage Selfbow, 58# @ 29”.  Was my hunting companion for 16 years, he managed to take a lot of critters.  Shown here being obscured  by my moose arrows made by Rob D.

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

It would be my Steve Abbott longbow. This was the first bow I had ever custom ordered and I killed my very first deer with back in 1992. I love this bow Cocobolo handle and Yew limbs at 60 lbs I don't shoot it much but it is a beautiful bow and every time I look at it I remember that moment.  I hope to find one used in the low 40's someday.

My first black widow is a killer since day one. 60” psa, puts meat in the freezer the last 18 years. I have a “pretty” newer pchx that shoots damn good too, but the Psa is like a glove at this point.

..Beautiful bows everyone !

I've owned MANY fine bows...a few recurves...but mostly Longbows. Most shot very well .....

With that said...I have put a lot of miles and hunts in with a Bear Montana Longbow in my hand.

I could easily go the rest of my days with any of the 4 Montana's I have owned...Likely with any Montana  as they are all real close in build  ;^)

If I could only have (ONE) bow..it would be a Montana Longbow in 50#-55#....If I HAD TO pick only one of mine that I own now...it would be my 2016"Brown"Montana named "Rose"  ;^)64" 53#@28....

The Bear Montana Longbow  grip  fits me perfect....for me they are smooth-plenty quick-and DEAD quiet ! :campfire:

I have 5 customs and 2 off the shelf. No intention of selling any. Took a long time to have the customs made. I guess about 20 years to acquire these bows.

First Custom. Chaparral longbow 62" 53# @26". Diamond wood handle with all bamboo limbs. Very heavy for me now.
