Reflective Arrow Wraps?

I am building a new arrow set up for a recurve.  I thought I'd try some arrow wraps this time and purchased some reflective wraps.  At first I thought they were way cool and a slick idea.  But then I got to thinking, if I'm in the woods and the sun happens to be out and on me, will the game I'm pursuing pick up on the reflection and maybe spook?

Has anyone used reflective arrow wraps before and been potentially busted because of them?

I've used them and used them on sunny days, no issues here.

I really like them.

Zero issues with me for over 15 years out of a bow quiver.

I use them since a few years, it looks that they are dull at daylight and they reflect at night under direct flashlight beam

I have always wondered about that. Not to Hi jack a thread, but I did have a buck walking towards at 25yds with perfect wind just at shooting light.  I was concealed with a small multiflora rose bush between me and him.  That Buck snapped its head so hard and his eyes were fixed on me, he turned and bolted like he had seen a ghost.  Got me thinking..a few days after that at dark I pulled a trail cam and the last pic was me getting the cam.  The video on the cam of me had my camo coat glowing like a beacon in the IR light.  I thought that had to be it!! now I check my clothes to make sure there IR proof.

Your trail cam pic has nothing to do with your situation. You posed for the pic in the camera so to speak, so there is no reason what so ever to associate that between your hunting position.

Since Solana 2007 here on Tradgang, flo wraps have been a staple of mine. 

This reminds me of the 'feeder trail cam guy' claiming that the Javalina didn't move except early and late on some of my javalina hunts..... because he had cameras on feeders!!!.  This guy had no clue except what the camera told him.  He had no idea what javies did or how to hunt them. NONE.  Not one javie was killed over a feeder.

Needless to say, our Laredo Tusk Roundups tell the tail on 'trail camera' *expert* hunters.

I find trail cameras entertaining..... but not a substitute for my hunting skills or putting meat on the grill.

 You have to directly shine light on something to have it reflect it. Just like a deers eyes. Wraps have found many arrows and deer for me!
Best tool ever.

The reflective wraps are slick.  Been using them on carbon for a long bit now.  No issues with spooking game and I think if that was a concern you can always utilize a fletch cover with your quiver.   I'm not 100% sure,  but I'm not sure typical sunlight is enough to make them blaze the way they do if you were to go retrieve the arrow at dark with a flashlight.  Also,  I think the reflective feedback you get from the wrap,  relies on concentrated light pointed directly at it......like headlights of a car on a street sign,  or a flashlight beam on toward the arrow.  The more direct the light,  the more reflection?   As opposed to say how a mirror would reflect sunlight ..... if that makes sense?  I know one thing,  the reflective wraps are fantastic if you gotta mark the start of a blood trail at dark - provides instant feedback if you go out 100 yards from the shot location and need to look back for a reference point ..... stick that arrow in the ground as a marker

Do the reflective wraps work on wood shafting and using fletch tape?

While we're on the subject of reflective arrows, is anyone aware of reflective paint?

Most of my wood shafts are tail-tapered so I crown dip, but love the idea of a reflective coating.

Maclean, Google search "reflective paint" and you'll get quite a few options.

I don't have any experience with reflective paint but your post piqued my curiosity.

Paint sucks.  Been that route with some friends of mine that own the painting buis in my town.

Reflective Wraps are a sticker. Why would wood matter?

90% of my wrapped arrows are tapered.

I've always liked the white vinyl wraps myself. It's easier to see your arrow trajectory.

I use an arrow cover on my bow quiver to protect the arrows and not wave the white flag. The only arrow showing that wrap is the one that is nocked. and.... i don't wave that around much. LOL....

I've never tried the Florescent colors, but they should work great!    Kirk
