I own a Toelke Kestrel and a Bear Kodiak Magnum.  Both are 52" bows.   I also own a pair of Damon Howatt High Speeds and a Wild Horse Creek Mariah and all 3 of those bows are 54".

I believe that Toelke would do well if he would begin making his Kestrel/Troll in a 52" and 54" models.   Short bows are wonderful and I shoot them as well as any of my other bows.

Very nice toelkes.  Another thing I liked on my old cascade was the Delta 7 arrow quiver. I still have one from an old Jim Brackenbury 83 pound Drifter recurve I had back in the 1980s. It has Brackenbury Bows written across the hood.  I liked that quiver especially on short bows because you could slide the whole quiver up or down to the perfect spot  and then tighten the screws. That feature worked great to keep the nocks of your arrows out of the dirt when you leaned your bow against something. You had to have the 1/4 inch quiver inserts on the ends of the riser to mount it. Worked perfectly.  Alas, those are no longer made either I believe. 🥲

Kestrels are excellent bows.  I do not know what Toelke changed in the Kestrel to have it become a "Troll" but sure do enjoy my Kestrel,

I think it went from Troll 1st and then became the Kestral.Been wrong before though.I had a Troll.Perhaps it was the name Troll LOL.

Nice short bow either way you name it.I hunted with my Troll for 2 years. It shot well.

Some nice bows there, but this is a 3 piece 48” and 50”. This one is a original Rocky Mountain but you can still have a modern version from Sierra Blanca recurves

Those are worth a look for sure.I had one like that by Rocky Mountain that was longer.Sierra Blanca's prices are good. Its a 3 piece as well which is what he is looking for.

You can see the pronounced deflex in the riser that makes for a nicer more comfortable shooting short bow for sure and it should point naturally.

Good post!

Cacciatore there it is! That  Sierra Blanco short recurve looks perfect. I saw that you posted Sierra Blanco early in the thread but I was too dumb to understand what you meant. I was thinking. why is this guy posting the name of city? I’m looking for a bow. 😂
Anyway I’m going to order one today hopefully. He even installs the 1/4 inch quiver inserts on the riser so I can use my old Delta quiver.
Thanks to you and everyone else that tried to help me. 😀🏹

Can someone provide a link to pricing?  I'm not sure I'm even on the correct site or not, it's kinda scattered a bit.

Terry,
I was looking at the pricing on these stock bows. I'm not seeing the pricing on custom bows, but Jess's contact info is on this site.

I just called Jess at Sierra Blanco Recurves and ordered the 3 piece Thunderbolt with static tip limbs in 52” length. And he installs the 1/4 inch quiver bushings like I wanted.  I’m rough on bows and didn’t won’t a pretty gender-confused exotic wood so I just got a green actionwood riser and green glass on the limbs.  And Since it’s all green I’m gonna name it “Gutshot” Gonna write the name on the upper limb. 😂🏹
Only $675 for a new takedown recurve. Great guy to talk to as well.

I built the "TD Yeti" in 52" & 54" years ago, but the shorty bows were not real popular. So i didn't build a lot of them, and took them off my offerings on my website... But... I still have the forms and would be more than glad to custom build more of these..... Here are a few photos and a couple videos of them.

Here is one more clip i did.... Its amazing how quiet these are without string silencers....

I think you could maybe have a few different lengths and poundages with the Sierra Blanca. You obviously have the shortest riser.

The static limbs are newer I believe.I think the originals were more full working recurve limbs. Not sure if he's still offering those?

Anyway Rocky mountain recurves had 3 riser lengths and multiple limbs.I had one of thier brochures like 25 years ago.He was a smart guy and built a great bow.

Hope you like it Rod :)
