The fad is over for leather jackets you can buy them at rummage sales for around 10 bucks apiece and you can do many bows with one jacket and they are garment leather so its soft and stretchy.

Like Tim said rummage sales also thrift shops and most leather shops have scraps for sale or free.
An easy way to make a pattern is to wrap masking tape around the handle area a few times, carefully slice down the center of the back of the handle and peel the tape off. That is your pattern. Punch holes along each of those cut edges and stitch it up.

good advise, I will start looking around. I stopped by a couple of
craft & hobby shop today, they had some but the thickness I think
was to thick, when I find leather should you stitch it on or glue together.

Contact cement on the bow and handle wrap and stitched down the back. Leave a little bit along both sides of the handle wrap and down the back of the handle without glue for ease of stitching.

That looks like a nice shape on your handle. I might want to try it without any leather. Or there are so many options with leather, or the "sure grip" which is basically a piece or bicycle inner tube you slip on that is cheap and easy.
