How Much Smooth-On per Bow
« on: May 13, 2008, 09:14:00 PM »
Pardon me if this is an old question.

How much Smooth-On does one need to mix for a given bow?

I am going to make a 66" R/D longbow with three laminations and glass.  I hate to waste stuff.

4oz of each is what I use. Your usage may vary.

What Jason said. I use the little plastic(not wax paper) bathroom cups for measure. You mix what you estimate to need, but have plenty time to mix more if needed. Be sure to use a different paddle for resin and hardener. I mix in a CLEAN plastic bowl with a smooth bottom, can usually pop out leftover glue after it dries. We wanna see the bow too!
Stay sharp, Kenny.

If it looks as good as the spine testers Cupcake makes, it'll be a looker. Hap

Thanks for the data.

I am getting pretty excited about this.  If things go according to plan I should be gluing Memorial weekend.

The first one will be fairly plain; but, the fantasies that I have for the future are pretty cool.

I look at bows like Norm Johnson makes and hope I can get within spitting distance of that caliber.

Stay tuned...
