VERY strict rules and procedures on that hunt. A good percentage of our military's munitions come from there and they take safety and security very seriously. It truely is the land of giants. Congrats!

Congrads Mike!
I drew a spot there years ago and missed the Buck of a lifetime. 15 yrds broadside the top limb of my selfbow whacked a sapling upon release and the Buck squatted down to launch himself as the arrow grazed the top of his back. That moment in time is forever burned into my memory.
The thing I liked about the Depot is the Deer go about their routines undisturbed most of the year. I was still hunting a scrape line about a mile long that paralleled a railroad track. I sat on a rock and ate my lunch then resumed the hunt. I walked about 10 yards and spotted him about 50 yrds away working over a small bush. I froze in mid stride as he walked straight towards me. Afraid to move I readied for the shot. So transfixed on the Buck was I, that I didn't notice the tree branch in front of me. That Buck was completely at ease and had no "Radar" working but the fact that he reacted so fast to the sound of that tree whack amazes me to this day. Bye Bye big Buck. Never found my arrow. Good luck Mike. Also watch your stuff while in camp. My Rattlin' horns mysteriously dissapeared while I was at the practice range??

I just found out that I drew the very hard to get Traditional only Bow hunt at McAlester the last weekend in October. Land of Huge Whitetails!
Looking forward to it!

I will be hunting the Hominy area that same weekend.   Hope to meet you while we are there.

Set up for the hunt, Tall Tines made for me by Brian and original Snuffers. Roger Rothhaar would be proud. I thought what a better way to hunt the huge McAlester deer than with some of these old Snuffers. I have many arrows on display with Snuffers that have killed before but hated to take them off. I found these on some arrows from a hunt in Mississippi years ago.
