Fibreglass one piece recurve with maple limbs
« on: June 21, 2023, 02:05:57 PM »
Hey everyone, I’m new here. I’m hoping someone can help me with this question. I’m wondering what type of epoxy besides EA40 I can use to build a long lasting bow? I can’t find any local places in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada that sells EA40 and the shipping costs are more than the cost of the epoxy!
Thanks in advance and I apologize if this question was already asked. I skimmed through the thread and couldn’t find the question anywhere

Jeff, SystemThree’s G-2 works great. Long shelf and pot life. Been using it for years without any issues.

Id pay the shipping cost on the EA 40 myself... Very user friendly, and an industry standard for many years.   Kirk

I always use EA-40 and living in Norway the shipping cost from USA is as much as the glue itself, but that’s just the way it is. I will rather pay and know I get fresh stuff that I can trust. Forgot to mention that I have to pay VAT 25% of the combined glue price and shipping price. :scared:

My cost shows 2 pint unit at 60.00 and ship at 52.20  , 2 quart unit at 91.00 and ship at 58.80 so shipping not more than glue from MO

Welcome new guy. There is a dealer in Calgary that sells EA-40 in the smaller sizes and shipping might be a bit cheaper without crossing a border, but it will always be painful. Beyond G2 you could also look at West Systems 205 series epoxies. They are quite thin and you would likely need to add a thickening agent to assist with filling small gaps, but the epoxy itself would be up to the job. You can get it from Binnacle.com and they are on your side of the country to keep shipping slightly more reasonable.
