Africa Arrow
« on: June 22, 2023, 06:22:30 PM »

Made up a special arrow to have in my quiver for my hunt in South Africa at Sofala in a few weeks.

Nothing screams Africa like a banana fletched arrow. 5/16 Hickory shaft with a 185 Grizzly single bevel Broadhead behind a 75 grain Woody Weight that spins like a top and flies like a dart weighing in at 815 total grains out of a 60 lb longbow, just waiting for a chance to go through a zebra!

Looks good Mike.  What's on tour list besides Zebra?

Looking forward to hearing about the trip.
I've heard tell that warthog is the best eating too.

I'm hoping for a good warthog as well.  But my arrows aren't as pretty but the are wood and I built them so I guess they'll do!

I had to make a couple more. The one flew so good I kept shooting it and it passed through a soft spot in my broadhead target and went flying into some thick brush and I couldn't find it! Now I have one for a Zebra and a Warthog!

Good luck on the hunt. Nice arrows. You should not have any problem getting 2 holes on the zebra.

I'd have to search a while for one of them!

Nice looking arrows. Any self respecting critter would be proud to be shot with one. Reminds me of the Hickory Arrows I made a friend for one of his African trips. Lots of work getting the shafts straight, needed my heat gun. Can’t recall what he shot with them but he was after a Crocodile , reason he wanted the Hickory arrows. His canoe driver chickened out at last minute and turned around. He didn’t get a shot

That is a cool setup Mike. I’m sure it’ll do the job. Zebra rugs are just awesome.

I am loving the hickory shafts that I got from you! TOUGH and heavy. I guess subconsciously I liked your arrows so much that I painted the fletched end on mine almost exactly like yours without even realizing it, LOL! Weird. I did self nocks on my primative arrows.

Stone points and Grizzly broadheads for me this year.

Currently developing my own 2025 African set up for plains game...am planning to use it this 2023/2024 deer season.
