TD hardware supplier
« on: August 06, 2023, 11:25:19 AM »
I’m starting to run low on threaded inserts for my limb bolts, and location pins too.
I used to buy them from Dale Stahl by the 100 count, but then he passed away. Since then I’ve bought them in small batches from Binghams projects… Now that they are shutting down, where do you guys purchase your TD hardware?

I just bought some inserts from McMaster-Carr. I get my bolts and alignment pins from the auction site. Do a search for aluminum countersunk washers for your bezels. Lots of different colors.

Ask binghams where they get the threaded inserts

While I have no idea of their cost in comparison to others, I've dealt with Rosewood archery quite a bit lately and I've really come to love them. I've been buying brass hardware from them.

Good thread Kirk... I've been wondering about this too. Zipper Bows has kits at a good price. The pins and bolts are easy to find at affordable prices online. What is the part# for the inserts from mcmaster?

I just looked at those fro McMaster Carr and I believe those are shorter in length than what I’ve always used. What are the length?

I think the ones Binghams sold were an inch long. So these are pretty close…. Thanks.  Kirk

I know a guy who has some of the double thread inserts but no bezels from Dale Stahl's estate sale, think he has about 300 he can sell. I'm not putting his phone number here but if you message me I can hook you up with him, don't want folks calling him for years when he sells them off...  No idea on price, sorry.

Stay sharp, Kenny.

Naw man…. Ya need a metal lathe to do that accurately. I actually did have a piece of galvanized pipe milled and threaded a few days ago by my neighbor for a special boat motor part I needed. Watching the threading process was pretty fascinating.

Wow!  I didn’t know zipper was using 1/4-20 bolts and pot metal furniture inserts…With dense hardwood or even softer woods I would stay away from those self tapping inserts that cut their own threads. Most everyone uses 5/16-18 bolts and 1/2-13 OD x 1” long threaded inserts that require a tap.

You can find a lot of them that are that size, but only 1/2” long which would work fine for metal or even tapping into G-10… but wood?   Not this kid…too much pressure on those bolts.

Hey Mike, when you look on eBay for pins and bolts, is there a specific search word that you use ? as I can’t seem to find them. B
