« on: August 08, 2023, 09:36:05 AM »
Hello I have a like new Dave Rickie knife I’m wanting to sell, it was made for and raffled at a PBS auction I think years ago… how can one find what his knifes are worth for honest sales price?

Dave Rickie makes a very nice knife.  I had one similar to yours for a good long while.  Admittedly with so many knives that I have it wasn't getting used.  I donated it to the St. Jude Auction a while back.  I think mine had a 5 inch blade.  154CM.

I'd like to venture that it's a $200 to  $250 knife.  While it might be in excellent unused condition it is not new from the maker.

I'd also say that the knife market is very soft right now.  Unless you have something that is from a very desirable maker or something on the unique but desirable side of things don't expect top dollar even on unused blade.  Blades with use deduct accordingly.  IF you post at higher price and it does not sell, perhaps the market is not willing to meet your price.  If you mark it low, as in you really want it gone, then perhaps it will sell more quickly.  I'd look around at sights like Arizona Custom Knives and see if any Dave's work has recently sold there and what the prices were.

Thank you for advice so 180.00 should be a fair price.

It just don’t get used.
Thanks again!

That is a fair price for one of Daves knives. At 82, he won't be making a lot more. I won't ever let Any of mine go, they are great knives and special to me. One of my best friends, and one of the nicest men I have ever known.
