Beaver do count!  I can hunt them year around in Oklahoma but not in Kansas.  This is what I call my $15000 beaver.  I slipped down the creek bank and tore my knee up and had to have knee surgery.   :biglaugh:

Wow, way to go on those quail Terry. I have never tried quail with the bow, but I have taken some pheasants with the bow. Great thread so far, I hope more will chime in with their small game take.

The quail was a stray that got up on one of our St Jude pheasant hunts.  What a blast those hunts were.  I have two more pheasant hunt results I'll post when I get time.

Yeah, great thread.

Always wanted to hit a quail on the wing.  We don't have many quail anymore so I doubt it will happen.  Nice shooting Terry.  You to Tony.

Good shooting on those Chukur Gordon, and thanks Gordon. Going after pheasants with a bow is a hoot. Unless one is above average with a bow like Howard hill on flying and moving game, I am sure one would get more with a shotgun than with a bow, but man when you do, it is a sense of accomplishment. I have certainly taken a few pheasants with the bow, not to mention some very good table fare. Here is a couple I took in a cut over corn field. If you look at the pic of me standing there, you will notice one of the pheasants minus the head. Well The Traditional Bowhunters Of Maryland were having one of our past annual pheasant hunts, and i arrived late for the hunt and the boys were already in action. As I was approaching the group, they called out to me and said they have a bird that wont'y fly, it kept to the ground running. And it was quite wet that day with some standing water. I nocked an arrow and as I was crossing the cut rows of corn, this pheasnt took out running right down one of those rows, and without thinking about it, I came up to full draw and let right in front of her and its head and arrow connected  and the broad cut its head right off, a total instinctive shot. I wish I had my knee high rubber boots because of the laying water. You can look at the pic and see my pants legs are wet from going through the water. needless to say we had a blast.

Wow, Tony, you are small game terror with your bow!  I have preferred small game over the years simply because with my schedule and lifestyle, it has been difficult to do bigger game hunts, and I'm not very experienced in that area... I usually have to be spontaneous when I get a chance to go hunting, and for short periods of time.  I'm actually doing a moose hunt in a couple weeks, so there's that... but I have learned to enjoy and even prefer small game hunting.  Lots of rabbits and grouse and squirrels, but I haven't taken pics!
Life is a whole lot easier when you just plow around the stump.

Well Terry, maybe not the best pic in the world, but your smile says it all with the evidence at your feet.  And yes grilled pheasant, now you talking.

Thx Tony.... the mouse was a bird feeder raider in my  back yard. I got on the roof to ambush.

I really wish I would have had Ray Hamond take a pic of the mouse I shot from lying on my belly under the deck that was on other side of the moble home. Ray was worried I would hit the water pipe running along the ground. I told him otherwise.  That was the same weekend I shot the bumble bee out of the air and took 6 shots at hogs and connected all 6 times. The 6th shot was through a boar Ray had shot and it came by me carrying the mail. What a weekend at Ray's Hog Heaven. I was shooting out of my head that weekend.

Oh, but remember,  instinctive shooting doesn't exist!!
