Proud to be a Tradgang Sponsor - Trad Tracker
« on: August 14, 2023, 09:07:43 PM »
I have been a long-time member of Tradgang and am now happy to say I am also a Sponsor.   I have recently been offering my string tracking device (I call it the Trad Tracker) for sale both online and through 3 Rivers Archery.   I have used it for years successfully on deer, hogs, and one Canadian black bear.   It is unique and, in my opinion, solves many of the issues hunters have had with the string tracking devices that have been available.
It weighs less than an ounce and a half, attaches to the bow with either a simple bungee system or a removable dual loc fastener material (similar to but stronger than Velcro), is quiet, and has no discernible effect on arrow flight.   The lightweight thread is remarkably strong.   It will sometimes break but even then, often gets you well in to a blood trail.   Every one is hand made in Montgomery County, Alabama.
I was recently fortunate that Jason Samkowiak tested it and published an excellent YouTube review on his Traditional Bowhunting and Wilderness page.   Rather than describe how it works here I would suggest looking at his video.   Even if you don't like the Tracker Jason's videos are always informative and entertaining.
My website is www.tradtrackr.com .   The Trad Tracker and extra thread are available on my website and may be ordered through 3 Rivers Archery.
I can honestly say that in over 20 years I have not one time said, “I wish that I did not have this attached”. There have however been occasions where I regretted not having it attached!

Impressive.  I believe I'll be getting one as well. Should come in particularly handy for turkey hunting.

Hmmm.  About 3 minutes between my initial post and this addition.  I just bought one.  Real easy to do from the web site.  Look forward to giving it a try.   :clapper:

Jason likes the bungee attachment but  I prefer the dual loc fastener.  Both are solid.  The dual loc method requires putting a 1 1/2” to 2” strip of self sick material on your bow.   I provide both methods in the package.

I had looked at these earlier when i won a St Judes item from Norman and he sent me his website info.  I looked at them again yesterday morning and still didn't pull the trigger.  Just got on Tradgang (at work) and saw that Norman was now a sponsor and went ahead and ordered one.  Thanks for being a sponsor!

I also posted below on the other thread.

Welcome!  Thanks for sponsoring.  I checked out your tracker and one question, how does the thread attach to the arrow?  Thanks.

On screw in points you simply unscrew it a bit, wrap the thread 4 or 5 times around the threads and screw it back in.  On glue on heads i use a small piece of duct tape. Perhaps 1/4” on the shaft just above the head.   Wrap the stringa few times and then cover with duct tape.   I leave the tape on the arrow at all times so it is quick.  I will post some pics this evening.

:biglaugh:   Yep, all you have to do is 1.cut wood blanks 2. Drill large and small holes, 3. Countersink end hole 4.sand inside holes and out 5. Stain and finish 6. Cut 6 pieces of dual loc fastener 7. Punch hole in one piece of dual loc 8. Install fabric on one piece of dual loc for end piece 9.Stick on 3 pieces of dual loc 10. Install Tradtracker decal. 11. Cut bungee to length. 12. Burn and glue both ends of bungee. 13. Tie bungee into a slip loop. 14. Put electrical tape on 5 bobbins. 15.  Place reflective tack on end of cork. 16. Install one bobbin in tracker. 17. Insert cork and place end cover. 18.Pack tracker, extra thread, cork, dual loc, bungee, and business card in zip loc bag 19. Staple instruction sheet to bag. 20.  Pack completed tracker in box for shipping
Helps to be retired like me.  Otherwise-dont quit your day job

I have to ask, no disrespect at all.  What is the normal scenario if you pass through an animal and it takes off.  Does the arrow get drug to a wedge and the string keeps going, or does the arrow get wedged and the string breaks.  I shoot for, and get 90% of the time pass thoughs so I'm wondering.

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.  :campfire:

Almost all of the time under those conditions, the line does not break you get a double line, but obviously only half of the distance

Great question and great answer....

My hunting style does not allow me to use a string tracker so I will have to set up to use this unit.

This will be no problem as I know the property very well and I will be able to set up in an ambush spot that I am very familiar with.

This is going to be fun. :campfire:
