I owned one a couple years ago. Bought it used. Very well made and sleek styling. It was a beautiful bow. The grip was a little narrow for my likes so I traded it off.

Hi Richard,
I had a Morningstar. It was very well built, but the belly side of grip narrowed too much for me. It was a straight grip.  I shot it pretty well and it was a good performer tho.

If memory serves me correct, there were 2 Berry Brothers and they split. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I shot one in NJ pre Tradgang.  I loved the limbs and the way it shot, but I too remember the grip was a bit small, and I don't have large hands.

No, it's just that I don't like being ridiculed, belittled, and disrespected in my own house.

I started this place over 20 years ago, and you've barely been here a month. No sure what your agenda is claiming I don't know what I'm talking about.

Everyone was talking about 1. 2, 3 and you hollered yellow. Then ridicule me for asking for clarification.

Maybe you need to find a different forum.

Yes,thier were 2 Berry Brothers.

Never heard much about J.Ds Brother building many bows on his own as a Bowyer personally. He may have been part of the business at times. But J.Ds the man!I have had quite a few Berry bows going back a long time..All built by J.D.

The Vixen was a pleasant shooting ASL with backset.I think thats what this thread was about.Narrow limb, deep cored.elegant and trapped limbs like alot of his bows.

The  problem is your a fat little overly sensitive Bitch, and any comment that doesn’t completely agree with you is automatically wrong. I’m not even convinced you comprehend what I posted lol. You seem dim whited as well as being a pussy lol. You can shove this forum as far up your fat ass as suits you. GFY

Ok, thanks.

I had to refrain from posting for 24 hours.  I'm not sure what that guys problem was as he posted something totally abstract from the group and T just asked for clarification as he said. Then the guy went off on him.  I don't know where these people come from.

I've never owned a Berry, but have shot one. No issues for me, and the trapped limbs were very well done. Overall a really nicely well made bow.  Just not my cup of tea.

Cheers.

I have a Berry Vixen and I have to say it's one of the finest Hill style bows I've ever owned. Fit and finish are flawless and it's performance is outstanding.

I called JD Berry about nine years ago when I was in Medical Lake visiting a brother, and asked if could show me a couple of his bows and he said to stop by. I stopped at a drive-thru coffee shop and picked up two freshly brewed coffees. As I recall he gave me a tour of the shop and showed me a reverse handle and string follow and let me shoot both at a bale in the back. Both bows were very nicely crafted and a pleasure to shoot. It was the first time ever shooting a reverse handle ASL, and the handle was comfortable, and slightly larger than the string follow.  I was ready to order one, but he was booked up and not taking any orders.
I tried to find a used one, with a weight similar to mine, but his bows sold quickly, and never did find one.

I’ll be up your way hunting Columbus Day weekend.  If you’re around, let me know and I’ll bring one for you to check out.

The craftsmanship of a Berry Bow can’t be captured by photos.  James is a true artist. And he makes one of the best forward handle ASL’s out there. Full disclosure, some of his bows have some pretty misaligned string grooves, but overall, they are a great bow.

I picked up a Yaweh from him that he made for Paul Brunner and it has Paul's wart hog ivory as handle overlays. There was a miscommunication on the weight so he made Paul another one. It shot really well but it's two heavy for me know being 62lbs @ 26"

I have a Voodoo stick from back in the day that I think was built  when his brother was still still involved in the business. Gorgeous bow that shoots great and is a blast to shoot. I thought I had heard that his brother had passed on , don’t know for sure. I think he had stopped building bows for a while. Would like to try one of the new ones someday.

Never have a Vixen. I used to have a north star, now a taipan 2. Something about J.D's bow I can say is that J.D. always make best choice of woods. Just let him know what kind of color you want on riser and limbs, he will make the most beautiful bow fit your request.
