Tall Tines
« on: August 24, 2023, 08:29:13 AM »
Can somebody help me out with a close up photo of the writing on a Tall Tines recurve by  Wessel ?

Just “Tall Tines by Wessel” is all I need. I want to add it to a bow.
Thanks, Gary

Do you want Brian's contact info?  Probably not good form to put that on a bow, IMO.

Mine disappeared when I had it refinished.
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

Yes that is what I wanted to duplicate. The bow was dipped and if it had the manufacturing nomenclature on it, it was covered up or destroyed.

I suppose I could ask for permission from Brian if you guys think that is the right thing to do. But I didn’t see the harm as whoever becomes the owner of it after I kick the bucket would probably want to know what it was and who made it.

I’d hate to spend the money to return it and have Brian re-letter it.
I see requests for labels for older manufactured bows every once in awhile, and since Brian always hand wrote his name on it I thought that was appropriate.

Please advise if you still think it is wrong.

Personally, If you are trying to duplicate his mark, I would get his permission.  That is up to you. I guess that I am a little more sensitive about the issue after buying a John Schultz Trophy Hunter with forged writing on the bow.  Different situation and all.

Yes Patrick, I see what you are getting at. I suppose it could be construed as forging the signature to imply its all original condition. Thanks all.

Man, I am probably just looking at it too deeply.  Don't worry about my opinion, because it really doesn't matter what I think.

It does matter, to me. Thanks Patrick for taking the time to expression your opinion.

why not drop the bowyer a line?  He may not want to sign it after covering up his craftsmanship with that camo dip...He may not care at all......  personally i think they did a great job on the dip. i like it...  Kirk

Thanks Kirk. I like it as well. I think the bowyer did the dip or had it done for the original owner. I could be wrong about that tho.
In any event, I did reach out to the bowyer thru the current bowyer. But havnt heard yet.
