european mount/ fake skull
« on: May 16, 2008, 02:49:00 PM »
I found a 180'' non-typical skull last year and want to make a european mount of it. The nose has been chewed up so the skull looks a bit tore up. My taxidermist showed me a fake skull you can mount the antlers to and mount it that way. Has anybody ever used this fake skull and if so can you post pics of it. I'd hate to chop the antlers off if I didn't have to. Tripper

I use them quite often. You can order them through Mckenzie, Pinchback reproductions, or several other suppliers. They dont look too bad.

I did one a few years ago on a buck that has been found in similar shape.  With a little bit of attention and some airbrush work you cant really tell the difference when they are hangin on the wall.  It was really very easy to do.
