Source for inserts

I am looking for a new source for these inserts. I had some made by a local machine shop. Notice it is not threaded completely out to the end. The shoulder serves as one of the pins to align the limbs. I thought he used gold instead of brass when I paid for them. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Really a dang good idea. Alignment pins with built in threaded inserts. 2 bolt system. Or could cut the head off a bolt and glue threaded plug into one and use as a alignment pin and have one a limb bolt. I would put cut plug in the insert from the bottom and put clean end up facing the top side of riser, no need to sand or paint cut bolt that way. You could also put bolt in from the bottom with epoxy, run it up flush with the bottom of the pin and then clamp in a vice and take a cutoff wheel and cut bolt head off. Then the cut end would be at the bottom side if the insert hole. Anyway long winded, but i see potential.

That will only work well if you have a good drilling jig. Far better to me is the two pin system  if you get your Tapp off just a bit things won't work well.

Damn I like that system but I’d have to go with a bolt and two pins!!!
Stay sharp, Kenny.

$7 a pair might be a good price unless brass is at a gold price per Oz.  :biglaugh:

2X on Stic's post here... It's really tough to use the bolt for a location pin. The + or - tolerances on those threaded inserts, and tap drift makes it tough to get them centered properly even using a milling machine...

I use a 2 location pins, one above and one below my insert and drill the limb bolt holes over size. I also mill a .040 slot in the lower pin hole in the limb rather than just a hole. This keeps the pin from binding up if it flexes a bit on the rser, and those limbs fit first time, every time on the riser....

I cant help you on a new source. i'm still looking myself since Binghams shut down.
