Early season deer camp suggestions for gear

Had to sit this deer season out due to a neck injury at work. First time I've ever missed a season- pretty hard to deal with. hoping to be back at it by September for next year. My wife has told me she would love to go camp out.in the mountains with me for the first few days of the season and hunt with me. Would anybody have input on buying a good canvas tent or buy some cheap tent and a cook stove for the first trip to see how she likes it? I'm not sure which direction would be better to go

Ask her what she thinks she needs to be comfortable...if you want her to continue listed to her if not do it your way

Are you going to be backpacking in or staying near the vehicle. I’m no expert camper, but I really like my Kodiak Canvas tent for camping near the truck. No clammy feeling like a nylon tent, roomy, easy to set up, and not much more money than a good back packing tent. Good luck!

Yes I'd be close to the truck. I was looking at the Kodiak tents. Thanks!

I picked up this tent this year for spring fishing and a Colorado elk bowhunt. It is a Browning Glacier 4 person tent. It is 8 x 9' x 6'h nylon tent with two vestibules, full fly and a closable mesh ceiling vent. This tent worked well in colder days and the fly may roll up on the sides to allow cot height zipper windows to vent on warm days. The front fly I made a roll up awning with a couple old tent poles I had laying around. This tent is well made and perfect for two adults or two adults and two kids. A Little Buddy heater would warm this tent nicely. This tent may be purchased for $250-450. If she likes camping buy a Kodiak or Davis canvas wall in the future.
