Well , there's this pHyscO doe that comes out of the swamp and blows a half dozen times every evening whether there is anything there or not. I've been 500 yards upwind and she does it!!
So New Year's morn I slipped in a half hour early to where she comes out in the evenings. An hour goes by with nothing, it's ok because crops are a half mile away.
8:00 I see a deer thru the brush at edge of CRP, she is coming in same way I did. She checks the ground a few times, but no worries, whenshe gets to about 20 she turns to go south. Well this is the time, so I squat a little to clear a twig and shoot.
Looks high just behind shoulder. She blazes off into the bottomland on neighbor. Gets behind some trees and stops, coughs and I hear a crash but can't see her. Text bro and tell him, he is in a blind but texts his neighbor and finds out nobody in there and guy says sure go get it. It's great to stay in good with folks next door!!
I wait 20 and get down, arrow didn't blow thru,but fell out first jump (or she jumped while it was going thru lol ) arrow blood soaked, but not really bubbly.
So I track sparse blood for about a hundred , it is picking up toward the end, but not seeing her. She fishhooked at the end and ran her head under a downed tree.
Nice doe, weighed 115.5 dressed.
