The End of My Deer Season
« on: January 11, 2024, 11:11:41 AM »
It’s hard to believe that 4 months have already passed by, and Georgias deer season for my county ends this weekend. Due to other obligations mine ended yesterday. The bucks eluded me as I had several “almosts” but couldn’t drop the string.
Saturday evening I was able to kill this old nanny. She died in a pine thicket from Hades but Norman’s string tracker led me right to her.

Yesterday evening had me settled in my blind by about 3:30. I had bittersweet feelings as I knew it was my last day for deer hunting for 8 months. This young lady blessed me with a shot at about 5:15 and only made it about 40 yards. I thanked the Lord for my season and can’t wait til next year.

It's not easy to do what we do. Trad bowhunting is filled with extreme highs and severe lows. I don't take any kill for granted. Well done!

Great job Randy!!!

It seems the ease of use of those string trackers are already taking off and showing great success.

Ted, yes we have hogs and that’s what I’ll be concentrating on now.  We’ve killed 60 so far this past year and still have 60 or 70 left!  Give them a couple of months or so and there will be 100 or more.

Terry, Norman’s string tracker is awesome. I was a little skeptical at first that the string wasn’t strong enough to keep from breaking easily. I was wrong. I killed three deer with it this season. Two of the deer broke my arrow off while running but the broadhead with the string still attached stayed in. One jumped a fence and went into a thick pine thicket before dying and the string led me straight to them. It is really easy to use and set up. I’m about to try it on some hogs now that deer season is over.

Lovely, lovely, lovely....

Just being able to get out and hunt is great in itself.

Bringing home some fine table fare, taken with the stick and string is awesome.

Best
Lex
Good hunting to you all.
