River cane is a more forgiving shaft and relatively easy to straighten...and for me easy to come by. I have been shooting hardwood shoot arrows(mostly sourwood) for the last 3 years and really like them. This year I've played more with cane(A. tecta or appalachiana) and using a Cherokee 2 fletch(and hybrid 2 fletch) and am really liking the results. Depending on how well they fly with stone and trade points, cane arrows may be exclusive in my hunting quiver this fall.
I have only made a few rose shafts but prefer other hardwoods. I believe that Mickey(the Ferret) has info on both(rose and cane) on his website. Pat
