Well I done gone down the rabbit hole now! I bought a itsy bitsey little Shrew for my 9yr old daughter at the Kzoo expo. Its a 25# at 28"( she draws to 25") and the first guess using 700 spine resulted in some serious 240gr up front to get them shootin, but they were still about 5" out in front of the riser and SLOW dad! So tonight I went down the micro diameter hole. I ordered a dozen 1050 spine Easton Avance Sport carbon arrows(4mm) I also got some of them snap off to adjust the weight field points and push in nocks. I should be able to make some speedy little darts for her. If these work out good and still have enough stiffness to push 120 gr up front I'll set up some 100gr QAD Exodus Broadheads (Deep Six) and turn her loose on some critters!
She really has a good eye and can already tell clean arrow flight and what is going on! I showed her the whole process and how tip weight effects flight. Its fun to watch the lightbulb go on while she's learning. All last year she was shooting and hunting with Cedar that we had a lot of point weight on to get good flight with her 25#Bear Ranger..its gonna be fun to get some speed in this new Shrew so she can start backing up a little more..
