What do all of you who cant their bows have to say about it? I have been shooting Short bows exclusively for the past year (48" Supermags) and in close say 6-7 yards, I have good accuracy while canting, but as I increase yardage I found that canting put my arrows out farther and farther to the right and a bit high( right handed shooter) I didn't notice any wagging or tail kick so I don't believe it was arrow tune and so I never really canted much..Ive recently switched to a 52" Shrew, and now have found the most amazing thing to date with consistent accuracy while canting! Its like a great big lightbulb has come on for me, I can shoot at all distances out to 25yds canting at a pretty serious angle and my confidence is soaring! I have also found that I don't like a quiver on this Shrew at all! Maybe its just a matter of the particular bow as it relates to the cant angle? I now have my new broad heads grouping with the field points while canting, I did clock the two blade broad head to be horizontal while canting as it seems less distracting. I'd like to hear more about other archers thoughts on canting.

I got back into traditional archery 6 or 7years ago after being out of it for many years. I had to relearn everything, and tradgang was a big help.

My shooting was inconsistent and things just weren’t clicking for me. My hunting buddy suggested that I play around with canting my bow. That really helped my shooting. The way I anchor, canting the bow helped me keep my eye over the arrow.
Works for me!

That's exactly what it feels like for me..eye is centered over the arrow!

If you have proper alignment which is what I have always called for years , the 'Magic T ' you can cant however you want.... Here's a little video showing what i'm talking about.... There is also information on the Tragang DVD about this very thing, and the myths and the false wives tails about it

Your problem with canting the super mag is probably due to the bow's length. It's very hard to get off the string cleanly with a very short bow. Introduce some sideways torque to the string, which you do with a cant, and the problem becomes even more pronounced. Four inches more bow length is apparently enough for you to get off the string more cleanly so your arrows go where you want.

I find I cant a lot, but it has more to do with the shape of my face than anything. If I have my bow closer to vertical and have my eye right over the arrow I tend to hit my nose a lot more with my string. I guess it's because I turn my face towards the arrow to get my eye aligned properly. With an anchor a bit more on the side of my face I find I can keep my face out of the way of the string if I cant and lean over.

I cant my longbow but how much I don't know anymore. I've been doing it so long it's just a natural motion. Now I can cant more or less intentionally, but just normal shooting it remains pretty much part of my natural drawing motion.

Canting the bow, just feels natural to me. As it was said above, as long as everything's in alignment the shot goes well. It was the way I learned years ago and it works for me.

My cant varies a bit depending on the bow and the shot being taken. With a bow that isn't cut to center, I cant a bit harder, whereas the more cut to center a bow is, I have to hold it more vertical or I start to miss left. I also cant harder on closer shots versus longer shots. I don't really think about it, it just sort of happens.
I practice different angles as well just for those scenarios where everything cant be perfect, as often happens in a hunting situation. The buck I shot this year my bow was almost horizontal, while the doe it was almost vertical to clear some branches. It's pretty amazing how your brain will account for those changes in the heat of the moment.
